Last Wednesday, we took a break from working at the office and went on a little field trip to Resurrection, a place introduced to us by Alex, one of our interns.

Upon entering the gate, aside from the cats sleeping in the sun, we were greeted by old shoes turned into “pots” for plants that led to the front door.

Inside are all sorts of interesting things. One of the main things they do is they bring back to life old discarded objects by turning them into something else. It’s hard not to poke around and open drawers and doors, because you’re so amazed at how they managed to turn old computer keyboards into storage!
They also sell vintage furniture that scream “SO RETRO!” and make you think of old 50’s TV shows. If I had the money for it, I would have bought myself one of the vintage desks right then and there!

Of course there were also these littler vintage things. While I’m a fan of minimalist anything, there’s something about those cute rose cups that made me want to grab them and run. It was a good thing for them that the door of the china cabinet was very hard to open! Hahaha.
I was also pretty taken with the pocket watch! It reminded me of Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory — he and his fascination with trains, haha. “I’m like a conductor.”

Another cool thing about Resurrection is that in this one room where they sell these cute (handmade!) ribbon accessories, they also rent it out for photo shoots should there be any people interested. The walls are covered with music scores! Über cool.

Everywhere you turn, there’s something interesting that’ll catch your eye. It’s hard not to keep roaming around and checking out all the stuff they have. You should definitely pay them a visit.
Resurrection is found at 10 Alabama St. in Quezon City.
Given the title alone, I have obviously made my wallet suffer quite a bit today. But I don’t spoil myself often, so alghlskdgldkh.

Last week, I roamed around Muji and happened upon this carpet! I’ve been contemplating getting one for my work area for months, since my floor chair is immensely prone to getting dirty. Part of me was screaming to get it since Muji is currently on sale(!!!). I hesitated that day (because I had initially wanted a bamboo/tatami mat), but I eventually convinced myself to get it, since the price wasn’t that bad for a carpet. Got it at 45% off!
This has been my 5th Muji purchase since forever. Thank you, Muji, for (not really) sponsoring my work area! I keep telling myself that at the rate I’m going, I’ll be able to furnish a tiny studio apartment by next year or something. I have to pace myself. My room is full of stuff.

Besides my lovely new carpet, I ended up spending on my first ever Topshop top (everything I own from Topshop are Batgirl undies I AM NOT ASHAMED), though with partial funding from Kiksy bebeh, thank you love!
I’ve long had a penchant for stripes, black & white clothing, and long sleeved shirts, so this immediately caught my eye when I saw it in Rockwell last November. I’m apparently drawn by “SALE! SALE! WE’RE FOOLING YOU INTO THINKING OUR ITEMS AREN’T THAT EXPENSIVE ANYMORE!” signs, as I have learned today, because I convinced myself this was now worth getting at 50% off. And that I’d never see this again if I decided to pass on it. Plus the fact that I usually don’t really like much of Topshop’s clothes…save for their Batgirl underwear.
The store seemed to catch on to my latter reasoning, though, and showed me clothes in pretty shades of red (which I also adore). Fought the urge to try a dress on, and walked out with just my sweater and my pained wallet.
* * *
Sooooo it looks like I won’t be spending much this February. Need to earn back what I spent today alone.

We meet again, MUJI!
I finally went and bought myself that chair to go with my new work desk! I was contemplating between this one and the larger chair, but the price of the latter was a bit painful, so I went with the smaller one. Small chair for a small girl.

Now that I see it next to my table, I think I made the right choice, the larger chair wouldn’t have been proportional to my desk, so it’s all good.
Ah, it feels so good to finally have something to lean on.

Today I made my first “big” purchase! I say big because it’s a piece of furniture, and I don’t normally buy furniture. But I figured that this would be practical and beneficial. So yay, I finally went and bought my table!
This is what I was talking about in this post a couple of months ago. I was supposed to go and buy it already earlier this month, but the shipment hadn’t come in yet for certain reasons so I had one reserved. MUJI contacted me earlier this week to inform me that it had finally arrived! EXCITEMENT ENSUED FOR THE ENTIRE WEEK.

After much cleaning and fixing things in my room with the help of Kiks, the most O.C. boyfriend in the universe, we finally set up my table. (: I have yet to add a nice rug/mat (I was thinking bamboo!) + the floor chair also from MUJI, but that’s for later on. When I have money again. For now, a simple (and rather appropriate for the work atmosphere LOL) throw pillow will do. I get to practice sitting up properly. Posture = shot.

Added a few other things to reduce the WORKWORKWORK feel, like my artificial plant hahaha. Kiks donated a cute little clock that I do believe looks perfect for my work area, and put my Tracy’s Casino die that I got from Las Vegas, hahaha.
Over on the other corner, just for balance, I put my UP FA best thesis trophy thing (which actually just looks like a vase LOL) with my honors medal + pin in it. I guess I thought it could be a constant self-reminder for me to put my heart and soul into the work I do. NAKS.
Hurray! I am a happy, giddy little monkey.
